JUICE QUESTIONS

Q: What kind of juicer do you use?

We have 2 GoodNature X-1 mini Cold-Press juicers and occasionally use a Green Star juicer. We no longer have a Norwalk.

Q: What makes your juices different from what I can buy at my local grocery store?
Juices are made daily with only fresh Organic produce and lots of Love!

Q: What is the shelf life of your juice?

3 days

Q: What makes your juices different from what I can buy at my local grocery store?
Juice is made fresh daily throughout the day at our shop location.

Q: Where should I store my juice?

Juice should always be kept cold in a refrigerator (or if you live in the northeast your car or garage are probably cold enough to keep it for winter)

Q: How many calories are in your juices and juice cleanses?

Calories range from ~100-150 calories depending on the juice. Juice cleanses range from 1200-1500 calories depending on the types of juices included (greener juices are lower in calories and are lower on the glycemic scale as compared to the fruitier sweeter ones)

Q: What if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Juice cleanses are not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding but incorporating a fresh juice or smoothie is a great addition! Ask us abut modified cleanses which include both juices and healthy meal or snack options!

Q: What if I have a medical condition or take prescription medication?

Please consult with your physician if you are interested in a cleanse. If a full cleanse is not an option due to a medical condition or medication we are happy to put together a package that includes 2-4 juices and a clean whole food meal plan.

Q: What if I have a gluten allergy?

All juices, smoothies, and treats are gluten free.

Q: Is the juice vegan and/or Kosher?

All of our juice and smoothies are vegan but unfortunately are not Kosher.

Q: Where do I get my protein while cleansing?

Most people are not aware that many dark leafy greens contain protein (kale, collard greens and spinach) which are actually more easily assimilated by the body as compared to meat protein which is more difficult to digest. The recommended intake for protein is between 10-15% and varies on your activity level (more active = more protein). If you feel you really need the extra protein, be sure to use a plant based protein such as Spirulina and use sparingly. It is important to note that proteins require extra water so make sure you are drinking water as well as juice. With that all being said a short term juice cleanse (1-5 days) should not lead anyone to panic. You will not become deficient in a weeks time plus you will still be getting protein through your green juices since they will be packed with dark leafy greens! If you are planning on doing a longer cleanse please contact your doctor and discuss your plans in case they feel it’s necessary to monitor your overall health and protein requirements.

Q: Can I give the juice to my child?

Yes. Children love fresh juice! If you start them early enough they will develop a palate for greener juices. In the meantime fresh fruit juices, juice pops or smoothies are a fun way to introduce healthier drink alternatives. This is a great way to get their (or your) recommended daily intake of fruit and veggies.

*Please let us know if you or your child has any fruit, veggie, nut or seed allergy!

Q: How much juice should I drink?

One to two juices a day is recommended!

Q: How do I order my juice?

You can either come into the shop and order a juice or smoothie or you email or call ahead.

Q: When is the cutoff time to place an order for next day delivery or pickup?

Cleanses should be ordered 2-3 days in advance. Smaller orders (6 or less juices) can be called in the day before (8 am-6 pm) or even the morning of by 10 am.

Q: What are the most popular juices?
Kale Ale, Fireball, Green Love, Ginger Zinger, Beet It, Blood Cleanser (please refer to Juice Menu)

Q: Do you deliver?

We currently do not deliver to residential homes but deliver corporate orders over $60 within a 3 mile radius.

Q: Can I pre-order juices for pickup?

Yes. You can request your order online here, or by phone (585) 434-2607 (8am-6pm). Phone orders may be processed more quickly so if the order is for same day or early next day pick up please call.

CLEANSE QUESTIONS

Q: How many bottles come in each cleanse?

The standard cleanse comes with 6 juices per day in 12 oz jars, 13.5 oz bottles, 16 oz jars, or 17.5 oz bottles.

Q: Are juices picked up daily or all at once?

Juices are usually picked up daily if possible. We understand if may be difficult for you and offer an option to pick up two day’s worth of juices at a time. Advance notice must be provided in order for us to accommodate. Pick ups are made either the evening before (M-F between 5-7pm/ Sat. 4-5pm/ Sun. 2pm!) or each morning (M-F after 7:30am/ Sat. 8am/ Sun. 9am)

Q: Which cleanse level is best for me (Level I, Level II, Level III)?

If you are starting out, hesitant, or completely unsure how you feel about greens Level 1 may be your best bet. If you are middle of the road Level 2 or a combo of all 3 will work for you. If you are an experienced juicer and like your greens then Level 3 is the way to go. Over time your palate will change and eventually you will be craving more greens.

Q: I have never cleansed before. How do I know if I can handle a cleanse?

Take it one day at a time. Cleansing can be more of a mental then physical challenge! If you are mentally prepared you shouldn’t be a problem but if you feel like you truly need to eat something please do not torture yourself! With that being said this is not a pass for bad food but an allowance for some fresh fruit, light veggies or a salad! Clean fresh food is still cleansing! Don’t beat yourself up. Cleansing should be empowering not draining! Believe in yourself… I do!

Q: Will I be starving?

We get this question… a Lot! When you cleanse you will occasionally feel hungry (some of you may use the word starving) which is an indicator you need to drink more juice or a tall glass of water. Again as stated in the previous question if you feel you need an extra boost try to keep it simple and clean (fruit and light veggies like cucumbers, peppers, celery. Cruciferous veggies maybe too difficult to digest and cause gas and bloating).

Q: How many days should I cleanse?

We believe a 3-5 day cleanse is a great place to start but if 1 day is all you can think of getting through first then we say go with your gut! There is always an option to add on a day or two or even 3 or 4 to your cleanse if you so choose. Most people start feeling really good on day 3 and are more open to extend.

Q: Can I drink coffee or tea during a cleanse?

We strongly encourage you to reduce all caffeine intake leading up to the cleanse with hopes of being completely off of it by day one of the cleanse. Most people follow this advice but it is only a suggestion. If you still strongly feel you can’t or don’t want to completely give it up during the cleanse we encourage replacing your coffee with a cup of green tea.

Q: Can I have any other beverages besides the juice while cleansing?

Water (with fresh lemon is ideal) and herbal tea (try to avoid caffeinated tea if possible).

Q: What are detox symptoms? Does everyone get them?

The biggest detox symptom is a headache! This is especially true for coffee drinkers which is why we strongly recommended reducing caffeine intake a few days before the cleanse. Some other detox symptoms can include feeling foggy, achey, sluggish and tired. If you are tired and have the chance to sleep then please go to bed early or sneak in a mid day 20 min power nap. Some people are lucky enough to skip detox symptoms all together but those who do go through them usually start to feel better after the second day. By the third day a wave of energy usually kicks in…so hold on!

Q: Can I do a cleanse even though I have a busy schedule?

Yes. We think it’s actually best to cleanse while you are occupied so you don’t have time think about all the food you want but if your “busy schedule” consists of running around and lots of activities you may want to wait until you have a bit more free time in case you need to rest which is very important especially while cleansing.

Q: Can I exercise while cleansing?
Yes, movement is great especially during a cleanse. With that being said I do not recommend intense workouts or marathons during this time. Easy movements and workout but it is not the time to do extreme workouts or push yourself to your limit. If you don’t normally exercise a walk is a great start.

Q: How much weight am I going to lose?

We do not like to focus on weight. Juicing will help kickstart a healthier lifestyle which is the goal. Weight loss is common but should be looked at as an added bonus. Remember the initial weight loss will be water weight so if your long term goal is to keep the weight off be mindful of your exit strategy and long term goals.

Q: I haven’t gone to the bathroom at all. Is that normal?
Most people do not have any trouble going to the bathroom if they are doing a shorter cleanse 1-3 days. Things start to slow down for some people after day 3 so we suggest drinking plenty of water and maybe including a nice herbal smooth move tea in the evening to stimulate activity for the morning. Moving around and some light exercise and stretching is also helpful in getting the pipes going!

Q: Can I do a cleanse and eat food too?

There are many ways to cleanse. Most people interested in a juice cleanse try to avoid consuming any solid food during the cleanse and solely rely on their water and juice intake for the day. If the juice cleanse is well balanced (as ours are) you should feel quite satiated. The first 1-2 days are usually a bit more challenging but ease up quite a bit after. We like to suggest packing Mother Nature’s fast food… raw fruit like grapes, apples, oranges, or bananas as a back up or pick me up! Other people like to have a combination of 3-4 juices in addition to some raw fruit and veggies. In colder months some people like to include light soups and salads. We strongly suggest avoiding dairy, meat, or any processed foods during any type of cleansing period to allow your body to rest.

Q: What do I eat before and after my cleanse?

Pre Cleanse: Start by drinking a tall glass of water with fresh lemon juice (this should become a daily practice). We suggest reducing and eliminating caffeine, dairy, meat, and processed food from your diet at least 2-3 days before you begin your fast. Try to increase your consumption of raw organic fruit and veggies.
Post Cleanse: Breaking a fast is just as important if not more important then transitioning into it. The rule of thumb is to wait about half the number of days you fasted to transition back into solid foods. We strongly suggest breaking your fast with a green smoothie or a small bowl of raw fresh fruit. Mono-meals (consuming only one type of fruit for a meal such as watermelon or apples) is another great option. Please take this opportunity to reflect and continue your new path to a healthier and happier lifestyle. Remember not to over indulge! This will only ruin all the hard work and discipline you put into your cleanse. You deserve to feel amazing in your body!

Q: How often should I do a cleanse?

This is a personal choice. Some people like to cleanse once a year, once a month or seasonally. We believe once you complete a cleanse you will know when your body is ready for another. Remember to tap in and always listen to your body! READY FOR A CLEANSE?
